Google Drive to rescue…

I would like to share an incidence, where one of my clients work on an urgent video project required me to work for more then 4 hours in the middle of my vacation and how Google Drive saved another 2 hours of hassle for me.

VACATION, a word that is a rare delicacy for every office going person.
We plan our vacation months in advance making sure everything is perfect, no disturbance only relaxation & enjoyment but for a minute just imagine having to work during your vacation, sounds like a nightmare rite?
Well I had to live this living nightmare and work on an urgent video for one of my clients. It felt like the time is flying by and no matter how much I tried to rush, the work kept growing. After 4 hours of agonising editing, the video was finally complete but yet another obstacle stood between me & my vacation, Sharing video with the client. Thanks to Google Drive, I was able to share the output video file and save the hassle of going to online file sharing tools which required creating an account, upload the file to their slow server and then they will provide a shareable link BLAH BLAH BLAH…. its very time consuming and not to mention slow process with file size restrictions for free account members.

I have been using google mail since a decade now and its among the best mailing platforms available online and to retain the position they have incorporated numerous services for there customers. Google Drive was the best one for me when the added it back in 2012, It acts as a storage medium to save all our files online and access them seamlessly through various devices by simply creating a folder and uploading the file without any file size restriction, once uploaded we can then create a shareable link of the file and mail it to anyone.
The entire process is safe, secure & connected with my g-mail account not to mention its DAMN FAST….

As a professional, I believe its a remarkable facility provided by Google, which not only saves us valuable time but also keep us well connected online Anytime-Anywhere.

The HOW & WHY of Basic Technique

Through this blog I would like to share a small incidence with you which reminds me how important our Fundamental Basics are & how easily we overlook them.
In my previous job few years ago, the nature of my work demanded a lot of training workshops. New people with different ideas, opinions and views from the same field of work inspired me and somewhere helped me grow as a professional.

In one such workshop, I met Mr. Sanjay a Motion Designer (VFX) & he was about to guide us on combining motion graphics with a video clip to make a movie. During his session he didn’t explain the HOW & WHY basics on operating the programme and started with the conceptualisation of the technique. After 15 odd minutes into the session people sitting near me started whispering “KUCH SAMAJH AA RAHA HAI KYA ?”, this attracted my attention towards the crowd & I was surprised to find most of them not paying attention. It was all too much of GYAAN for them.

I on the other-hand, was enjoying the workshop, he made perfect sense to me because I knew the basics before attending the workshop.
In my thinking it’s not wise to invest your time at a place where you don’t know the basics of it and a lot of people in the crowd were doing just that. They were only interested in “when Mr. Sanjay will show us the the controls – settings, we will copy them in our notebooks & leave”, which is wrong.
You cannot be successful without dedication, You cannot learn without ambition. Copy-pasting controls & settings has never helped anyone reach the top.

I don’t know what the others learned that day but I learned two important things. A technique which helps me to this day in my field of work & Never learn parrot fashion on any topic.
If you attend a training workshop / seminar just for the controls & settings then, you will never grow as person nor as a professional.
